Week 3
Introduction: Margaret was an African American and she worked for a very racist lady named Mrs. Cullinan. Mrs. Cullinan came from wealthy parents and all though there wasn't slavery at the time she had servants. Mrs. Cullinan was very meticulous about all of the things in her house, and had certain rules that had to be followed. Mrs. Cullinan gave Margaret a name that was shorter, which to her was a form of utter disrespect. This caused to her to get really mad and break Mrs. Cullinans favorite casserole dish and coffee cups that were passed down from her mother. Argument: I do agree with Margarets decision to break the casserole dish and two green glass cups, because she needed to let the anger out. Mrs. Cullinan puts her through a lot and what she does is not right. Margaret feels disrespected when Mrs. Cullinans keeps calling her by the name Mary. In the passage, Margaret talked about being "called out of name", and how it was a hellish horror. The casserole dish and two green cups symbolize Margaret breaking free from the work. She was tired of the hell like conditions and she took a stand.

I whole heartedly agree with you. I think she made the rights decision for herself.

I think you may want to change this part of your introduction "Margaret was a negro" many would take offense to being called that.
